UDL through Technology - Visual Literacy for ELLs

I use the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Principle in the creation of all of my K-8 lessons, often times using Google Suites to develop slides, rubrics, expectations and surveys, finally posted in a Learning Management System such as our Google Classroom

In this lesson on Visual Literacy, I foster engagement through the use of videos that encourage movement, activities that incorporate putting the material into practice and providing choice.

I provide multiple means of instruction including text, audio, video and visuals.

Finally, I allow for students to express their understanding through choice. The formative assessments consist of writing, adding pictures and creating a video. Student can demonstrate an understanding through the methods that best appeals to them.
